Here's the story of Anna Delvey (or Anna Sorokin): A Russian-born German fraudster who conned Manhattan's elite. From 2013 to 2017 she lived in New York City, jumping from upper-class hotel to upper-class hotel and scamming her way into living an extravagant lifestyle of shopping, restaurants, bars, and travel. She tried to create a private member's club and arts foundation by forging multiple financial documents. Anna was eventually arrested in a sting operation with the help of her former friend, Rachel DeLoache Williams, who accused Sorokin of defrauding her of $57,000 on a trip to Morocco.
