Credit Suisse shares plummeted 30% to a record low after Saudi National Bank ruled out further funding for the Swiss lender. Saudi Arabia's biggest bank, which invested $1.5 billion in Credit Suisse last fall, cited regulatory reasons for not increasing its stake. Credit Suisse experienced a series of missteps and compliance failures, leading to customer withdrawals and a net loss of nearly 7.3 billion Swiss francs ($7.9 billion) in 2021.

Former Goldman Banker Gets 10 Years in Prison

Roger Ng was convicted of bribery and money-laundering charges in April 2022 after a nearly two-month trial. The 1MDB scandal involved looting over $4 billion from the Malaysian sovereign wealth fund and paying $1.6 billion in bribes to government officials. Goldman's subsidiary in Malaysia pleaded guilty to foreign bribery charges in 2020 and agreed to pay $5 billion in fines to global authorities.
